Global Learning Nutrition
In N220, we conversed with students from Newcastle University all about nutrition and the similarities and differences between nutrition in the US and the UK.
In N220, we learned about how nutrition is different in different places around the world. We compared foods, eating habits, and overall nutrition. Talking with students from other countries really puts a new perspective on eating. The global learning project is a way for us all to learn about eating and how we can improve our overall quality of life by changing the foods we eat. We were first informed about the project and got assigned a partner from Newcastle and a partner from IUPUI. We all met on Zoom and discussed our eating habits along with what we personally would like to change. We participated in discussions and learned through each other.

The global learning virtual exchange was such a learning experience for us all. I believe that this project was a way for us to get a in site into what eating in another country is like. Attending the Zoom meetings with people from Newcastle and learning what they eat on a daily basis was very eye-opening. My partners and I discussed a lot about what we eat on a day-to-day basis personally and shared what we typically eat and drink. We also talked about areas that we would like to improve on in the future, which I believe was very beneficial. Personally, I enjoyed communicating with someone from a different country because normally, we don't get to see what people from other countries eat daily. I also liked that we had the opportunity to listen to professionals in the health and food fields from another country. Having all these different perspectives was overall very beneficial to my own eating habits. Talking with my partner taught me that in Newcastle, there are lots of farmers markets available where they can easily try new foods and have access to healthy options. I found it interesting that fruit and vegetables were in the same category in the UK unlike in the US when they are separated on MyPlate. Overall, I believe that the Global Learning Project was beneficial to myself and all of my classmates as well as the Newcastle students.
